Lojer: With a modern AI solution towards more efficient information management

The dispersion of valuable information poses a challenge even for Lojer, the largest manufacturer of hospital and healthcare furniture in the Nordics. The company’s critical data is scattered across manuals, spreadsheets, and emails, including approximately a thousand different multi-page PDF documents. This makes it difficult to swiftly utilize data, such as in tender processes, support requests, and maintenance. Concentrating and enhancing accessibility of information is crucial for effective operational development.

Solution

To consolidate scattered data, we developed an innovative approach for Lojer: LojerGPT. It’s an AI solution utilizing OpenAI’s GPT-4 language model. LojerGPT enables integration of Lojer’s own data into AI systems and allows users to ask questions for quick responses.

“We embarked on developing our own generative AI application out of curiosity to see the current capabilities of this technology,” explained development manager Repe Mäensivu from Lojer.

The solution includes a chatbot interface facilitating direct interaction with the AI. This enables dynamic and flexible utilization of Lojer’s data in various situations. Information for indexing is sourced from Azure DataLake.

Technology Choices

At the core of the solution lies OpenAI’s GPT-4 language model and embedding model, providing an efficient tool for data processing and indexing. Vector data is stored in a PostgreSQL database (Azure Database for PostgreSQL), leveraging the Pgvector extension. Documents, excluding those used for index creation, remain in DataLake. LlamaIndex is utilized for data indexing.

Significance

Through LojerGPT, Lojer has taken a significant step towards more efficient and rapid information utilization. It’s not merely a temporary solution but a stride towards continuous development, enabling Lojer to deliver smarter services and analytics solutions that harness the company’s data. Additionally, it strengthens Lojer’s position as an innovative manufacturer of hospital and healthcare furniture.

“Lojer’s collaboration with Monad demonstrates how technological advancement and close collaboration can create future value for the entire organization. Monad has helped us develop a generative AI solution that brings tacit knowledge to light and makes data, scattered across various sources, more accessible, crucial for our operational efficiency and business development,” summarized Mäensivu.
