May started off with great energy as nearly fifty web developers gathered at our office. TampereJS is one of the largest regular meetups for web developers in the region.
We were proud to sponsor TampereJS for the second time. The event took place at our office and brought together emerging talents, seasoned professionals, students, and anyone interested in JavaScript and web development in general.
There were three presentations at the event. Kicking off the talks was Jussi Ritamäki, Senior Software Engineer at Monad, with a presentation titled “Full Stack. Fully TypeScript. Handcrafted.” He discussed the utilization of TypeScript in full-stack web development, as well as its applications in cloud infrastructure and release management. The key idea was how one typed language can serve multiple purposes and bring benefits, such as improved developer experience.
Daniel Yuschick, Senior Front End Developer at Noice, highlighted the significance of accessibility in his presentation and how we all benefit from accessible design solutions. He introduced the principles of web content accessibility and various ways to apply them in design and development.
Ari-Pekka Koponen, Head of Platform at Swarmia, focused on Testing Library, which has become a favorite tool among many frontend developers for interface testing. Koponen unveiled the secret behind the popularity of Testing Library and demonstrated how to write unit and end-to-end tests using different tools in conjunction with Testing Library.
