The Prototype Clarified the Service Concept and Strengthened Communication
Cense Analytics is a Finnish company that develops technology and services to measure carbon sequestered in soil. This helps monitor the emission impacts of farming practices and improve soil resilience. The service also supports the food industry with more accurate Scope 3 carbon footprint reporting.

Measurement Technology and Data in Place – The Goal is a User-Centered Service
Cense Analytics has developed a laser-based method to measure the number of carbon atoms in soil. The company also has an algorithm that tracks the development of carbon levels using satellite imagery. Cense’s goal is to provide farmers, food industry companies, and public sector organizations with an easy-to-use and reliable carbon measurement and monitoring service.
The prototype had a tremendous impact on product development, and the clarity it brought improved internal discussions.

The Figma Prototype Materialized the Service Concept
Monad carried out the UX/UI design, data visualization, and service design for Cense Analytics’ service platform. Based on this, an interactive Figma prototype was created to visualize the data from various sources. Collaboration through workshops and stakeholder interviews helped identify the key functions of the service and how the data should be presented, clarifying the requirements and laying the foundation for a good user experience.
“Data is at the core of our product, and how it is presented significantly impacts the usability of the service. Many details were resolved during the stakeholder interviews led by Monad,” says Jan Viljanen, CTO of Cense Analytics.

The Prototype Propelled Cense Analytics Toward the Next Development Phase
The Figma prototype created by Monad materialized the key features of Cense Analytics’ service and the benefits for end users, offering an essential tool for presenting the concept to investors and partners.
The prototype exceeded expectations and provided much-needed clarity for both internal communication and product development planning. It helped Cense prepare for the development phase of the product’s first working version (MVP, Minimum Viable Product), where the key functions of the service will be implemented for user testing and market launch.
“The prototype had a tremendous impact on product development, and the clarity it brought improved internal discussions. We were impressed with how quickly it was completed, and we are looking forward to starting the MVP phase,” Jan Viljanen explains.
