Why Monad, an IT company based in Tampere, wants to highlight the Pride movement and change its logo to rainbow colors on social media? The reason is simple: people are important to us. Our goal is to create sustainable digital solutions and provide our employees with a workplace where they can be themselves. Throughout our six-year journey, these principles have been the driving force behind our operations.

June has become an established international Pride month, and sexual and gender minorities are celebrated around the world. Pride still holds great significance, perhaps even more so in the current global situation, as many sexual and gender minorities continue to face inappropriate treatment, including in the workplace. Unfortunately, many still have to hide their identity, actions, and loved ones out of fear of negative reactions. It’s sad because everyone deserves to be accepted as they are without the need to conceal a part of themselves.

Moving forward together as individuals

Creating an inclusive work community is of utmost importance to Monad. Our culture is built on principles of openness, community, and continuous learning. While our industry and the diverse expertise it entails bring us together, we see our employees as individuals. Diversity is a strength to us, and different backgrounds and perspectives among our employees foster innovation, problem-solving abilities, and creative ideas.

For this reason, we constantly strive to support human rights, equality, and fairness throughout the year. We want to enable everyone to be exactly who they are. Every employee is valuable to us, and we want to provide them with opportunities for professional growth.

We know we are on the right track, but we always aim to improve and ensure the growth of each individual. We assess the Quality of Working Life (QWL) using a methodology that measures three areas: physical and emotional safety, collaboration and identity, and goals and creativity. In this assessment, our result was 76.1%, which indicates an excellent level. Additionally, we also measured our employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS), which resulted in 84. Although the numbers are excellent, we strive to continually improve our operations and support the growth of every individual.

Pride 🌈

June is internationally celebrated as Pride month. Pride weeks are organized in many cities in Finland, such as here in Tampere from June 12th to 17th and in Helsinki from June 26th to July 2nd, 2023.

The goal of Pride is to strengthen the rights of sexual and gender minorities. The main message is that everyone should be proud to be themselves.
